FAQ

What time will our session be?

I understand that flexibility is key when working with families. Bedtimes, nap times, and snack times all have to be considered. With that in mind, I will work closely with your family to find a time that can accommodate your needs.

My favourite time to shoot is during the golden hour. The golden hour is the last 60-90 minutes before the sun goes down. The reason that this is the best time of day for a session is because the light from the sun is diffused to create a golden glow, creating the most flattering atmosphere on the subjects. Of course, the summertime golden hour in Northern Alberta, is later than most places, so this has to be kept in mind when scheduling with your family during the summer.

What about the location of our session?

I prefer to choose the location for our shoot, however, if you have something specific in mind, we can certainly make that work! If I am driving to you, depending on the distance, I may ask for compensation for the travel.

I find that perfectly manicured lawns, or urban settings don’t suit my style. When I am looking for a location, I try to find something that is a bit wild. This means that I look for tall grass, a view that faces West, and maybe a landscape with layers to it (think hills, trees etc.)

What Should we Bring?

If you know that your kids will get snacky part way through our session, go ahead and grab them some snacks. Only please make sure that they aren't the messy kind that will get on their clothes or stick to their faces. You can bring bug spray if it looks like the bugs will be bad (this is likely considering we live in Alberta). If you normally pack baby wipes, they’re always handy in case of unexpected messes, but given that I have a toddler and a baby, I’ll probably have some on hand as well.

What will you bring?

You can count on me to bring blankets, and if we’ve discussed it, I can bring my peacock chair, or antique highchair. I will also bring along any items from my client closet that you might choose to wear, along with a portable change room.

How will we receive our images?

When you book, you will provide me with your email address. I will email you your gallery when editing is complete, and from there you can download your images onto your computer at home.

How long does it take to get our gallery?

Delivery of your images is dependent on how many sessions I have booked. During slow months, you can expect your images within two weeks of the shoot, but during busier times, you can expect them between 2-4 weeks.

What should we wear?

I'm so glad you asked! I would love to help you with your styling. You can send me photos of your outfits beforehand for feedback, or I can even go so far as to find outfits online to send your way. Of course you're always welcome to use my client closet, and I also have a styling document that I can send you to help guide your decisions.

Do I have to pay to use your client closet?

My client closet is totally free for you to use, and I absolutely love it when people wear items from it. I try to buy dresses that are universally flattering, fit multiple sizes, and are bump friendly. Using my client closet can be very helpful for newborn sessions when your body still feels foreign to you, I'll have something that fits.
